Steel Fighters is a traditional 2d space shoot-em-up, where two to eight players fire at each other with odd weaponry while trying to maneuver their own ship in narrow caves. The element of exitement is produced by almost continous action and the task of protecting your own ship while trying to destroy the others.
Steel Fighters is a shareware product. You are allowed to test this software for 30 days. After test time you should register (see Registration dokument) or remove it from your computer. Unregistered version has some limitations.

3. Players
Steel Fighter 1.2 has five CPU players plus three CPU or human players. Players can be set on from PLAYERS section.
Steel Fighters has five control buttons for each player. Three control buttons and two gunning buttons. Controls can be modified in Options/Controls.

4. Troubleshooting
Errors
Out of memory: Increase the amount of memory allocated to Steel Fighters.
Other problems
No sounds: Make sure that the sounds file is located in the same folder as the Steel Fitghters application.
No graphics during game: Press f1. If this does not help, change the screen copy mode to "QuickDraw" from the graphics menu.
Freezing and crashing:
1. Make sure that virtual memory is off.
2. Do no put wrong files to the "Stages" or "Musics" folders.

Speed tips:
1. Increase the framerate
2. Set parallax (background) to off.
3. Set the resolution to 640x480
4. Set screen copy to interlace
5. Set the game to two player mode
6. Switch the music off
7. Reboot your machine with as few extensions as possible
8. Set Filesharing to off, AppleTalk to off and quit other applications
9. Set virtual memory to off
10. Switch RAM doubler off
Setting the resolution - Press option while starting the game.
Custom levels - Put custom levels to the "Stages" folder. Levels can be creates with StageIT editor.
Music - Put music files to the "Music" folder. Supported formats are QuickTime, MOD and s3m.
